Spiders

Spiders usually live outside homes. However, if the inside of your home is very humid and brightly lit, you may attract them — here’s why:

  1. Spiders are carnivorous and build silk webs to catch gnats and other insects. If you have many spiders in your home, it usually means you also have a high number of insects.
  2. Start by reducing the lighting levels in your home, especially in rooms that are not in use.
  3. Make sure your basement windows and the base of your foundation are properly sealed.
  4. Avoid placing vegetation too close to your home’s foundation.
  5. Remove spider webs inside your home using a broom.

If you eliminate their food source, spiders will either die or leave. However, if they continue to find food, you will notice webs reappearing. You can repeat this process over several days. If you’ve done everything you can and the problem persists, it’s best to contact a professional exterminator to inspect your home and help identify an effective solution. Once again, make sure to request a written guarantee.
