Bed bugs

In recent years, bed bugs have made a troubling comeback, much to the dismay of apartment building owners and hospitality industry managers.

The situation becomes particularly concerning in areas with high population movement.

These small pests travel easily through luggage or infested furniture (especially mattresses) and spread rapidly throughout the Greater Montreal area.

It is important to remain cautious when returning from trips abroad or when bringing used items into your home.

IDENTIFICATION & LIFESTYLE

Bed bugs vary in size depending on their stage of development. They are oval-shaped, about the size of a pencil eraser when fully grown, reddish-brown in color, and have flat bodies. When feeding, they attach to a host, consume blood, then retreat to hide and reproduce. Although they are not known to transmit diseases, they primarily infest bedrooms.

You will typically find them close to their host: along mattress and box spring seams, bed frames, nightstands, behind wall-mounted frames, under peeling wallpaper, and especially along baseboards in the bedroom.

In short, they stay close to you—since they rely on your blood, which they feed on while you sleep.

You may notice blood stains on your sheets and small black spots (droppings) along mattress seams.

Their bites can be painful and may appear a few days after being bitten.

TREATMENT

It is crucial to act quickly when facing a bed bug infestation, as the problem can rapidly worsen and spread within weeks.

Our experts strongly recommend professional intervention to effectively eliminate this growing issue, which is difficult to control using household methods alone.

A thorough inspection combined with a meticulous extermination process ensures the best results.

Follow-up treatments may be necessary in cases of severe infestation.
